How To Tie A Scarf?

Step 1: Create a shawl tie

  1. Drape the scarf around your shoulders, creating gentle folds that accentuate its pattern.
  2. Gather each end in each hand. Holding loosely with your right hand, gently fold the right end, crossing over the left end and bring through and around the back to let it drape over the front.

Step 2: Try a modified ascot

  1. Gather the scarf so that it becomes long and narrow.
  2. Place the middle of the scarf at the front of your neck and gently wind each end once around your neck to create a sort of turtleneck collar.
  3. Bring the ends to the front and gently fold the right end, crossing over the left end and bring over and up through the back to let it drape softly over the front.

Step 3: Consider a hip tie

  1. Drape a wide scarf around your hips from the back, drawing either the left end or the right end longer than the other.
  2. Gather each end in each hand, and holding loosely with your right hand, gently fold the right end, crossing over the left end and bring through and around the back to let it drape over the front.

Step 4: Use a kerchief tie

  1. Fold a square scarf in half across the diagonal.
  2. Position the scarf so that it gently drapes across your front with the pointed corner down and the straight edge horizontal from shoulder to shoulder.
  3. Holding the two ends of the horizontal fold, one in each hand, bring the two ends around to the back of your neck and tie a simple knot of your choice.
