Jackets for women are not only a great way to keep warm but also a really stylish addition to any outfit. They have all sorts of purposes including protection from the cold or rain or the finishing touch to an outfit making it suitable for a formal occasion. What ever the reason for wearing a coat or jacket, it is worth choosing carefully as it has a huge influence on how you look and can make or break an outfit. Style, colour and fit are all key considerations when choosing a coat or jacket as well as the weight and warmth of the jacket depending on the season.
Ladies coats are usually thicker, warmer and longer than women leather jackets making them particularly suitable for winter. There are however a few exceptions such as the trench coat which is very light weight and offers protection from the rain making it particularly suitable for spring and summer and the evening coat which may light weight but very formal in style. The trench coat is a classic and versatile item of clothing that works with all sorts of outfits from work wear to casual. Ladies coats for the winter include duffle coats, pea coats, padded coats, leather coats, parka coats and full length coats, they can be either smart or casual or versatile for both.
Jackets can range from casual jackets to tailored jackets which are suitable for work wear or occasion wear. They are usually short jackets for women in style finishing at or below the hip but it is possible to get longer three quarter length suit or formal jackets.
The tailored jacket is smart and flattering. The term tailored is described as severely simple in line or design but is also used to describe the type of smart jacket that was traditionally made to measure by a tailor. It is the simple line and gently fitted nature of a tailored jacket that makes it so flattering. Tailored jackets can be worn with trousers or a skirts and a camisole or blouse for a smart work outfit. They are worn both inside and outside but for really cold days, ladies coats may need to be worn over the top of them. It can also be worn with a dress for occasions like weddings or a day at the races and can even be teamed with a pair of jeans for a very elegant casual outfit.
